The Russian swimming pool market is expected to experience rapid growth in 2025. The number of both private and commercial properties is growing, new technologies are emerging, and domestic manufacturers are occupying niches previously reserved for European brands. In this article, we will examine the key trends, developments, and challenges in the industry, as well as the development prospects for the coming years.

Technological trends

Sergey Podenshchikov, co-founder of Runwill Pools, notes that the first half of 2025 saw a particularly strong market demand for energy-efficient and durable equipment. Popular solutions include heat exchangers made of stainless steel and titanium, for example. These materials combine high efficiency and corrosion resistance.

Automation and robotization of production processes also play a key role. By 2025, the introduction of laser welding has become a clear necessity: it speeds up production, improves the quality of joints, and enhances the appearance of products. This is especially critical for welded stainless steel pools, as the seams must be perfect. Smart control systems enable automatic monitoring of water levels, filtration, and disinfection, pool management via mobile apps and web interfaces, and enhance safety with motion sensors.

Furthermore, energy-efficient technologies are becoming an integral part of modern pools, according to Aquaray. Heat pumps use ambient heat to heat the water, while solar collectors provide free heating. Automatic covers conserve water heat, reduce evaporation, and protect the pool from contamination. Energy-saving pumps and filtration systems optimize energy consumption, and LED lighting makes relaxation areas spectacular and durable.

Modern swimming pools are also becoming more environmentally friendly. Green technologies, such as heat recovery systems, are being increasingly adopted by Russian manufacturers to suit local conditions. Natural surfaces and biodegradable composite materials are being used. Biofiltration systems with plants and microorganisms create a natural environment for water purification and reduce the need for harsh chemicals.

Design is no less important

One notable trend is minimalist design. Premium equipment models with matte black panels processed using vacuum deposition technology fit seamlessly into modern architectural concepts. Runwill Pools estimates that demand for such solutions will increase by 15-20% by 2025.

According to Aquaray, pool design will become an important factor in creating a unique recreational area in 2025. Modern pools integrate harmoniously into the landscape and can include waterfalls, fountains, and whirlpool areas, while underwater lighting creates a comfortable atmosphere at night. Mosaics, tiles, stone, and other natural materials are used for finishing.

Import substitution and changes in demand

Sanctions in recent years have led to a significant transformation of the market. According to Sergei Podenshchikov, demand for domestically produced equivalents to imported equipment has increased sharply. Russian companies have been able to fill niches previously occupied by European brands. At the same time, product quality standards have increased. Customers have become more demanding and pragmatic, paying greater attention to the service life of equipment and service availability. This is especially true for large commercial pools in water parks and thermal complexes.

Private pools are a trend in suburban living.

Growing interest in pools in suburban areas has been ongoing for several years. According to the press service of Basseynoff, several factors are driving this. People are looking to improve their quality of life and ensure a comfortable vacation, whether they live permanently or spend their holidays in the countryside.

Modern technologies allow for more efficient and cost-effective systems, including automated filtration, lighting, and water heating, as well as the use of solar panels. All this improves comfort and reduces operating costs. Integrating pools into the landscape design also makes them a harmonious part of the property, creating a unified ensemble with the house and surrounding area.

Commercial pools and water parks

The water park segment in Russia continues to grow rapidly. According to NF Group, by the end of 2024, there were over 100 water parks operating in the country, with a total area of approximately 1.3 million square meters. Only one new facility opened in 2024—the Psydunai Water Park in Adygea. However, three major facilities with a combined area of 78,200 square meters are planned for 2025. Among them, the Suzdal AQUA water park, with an area of 9,900 square meters, is already operational, the YES water park in Kirov, with an area of 14,000 square meters, is preparing to open, and Russia's largest indoor water park, in Zavidovo (Tver Region), will occupy 54,300 square meters.

The commercial pool market is increasingly focused on comfort and safety. Facilities are being equipped with automated water quality control systems that maintain optimal temperature, chlorine, and pH levels. Digital solutions are being developed, including online booking, attendance tracking systems, video surveillance, and integration with smart bracelets and electronic keys.

State initiatives

The government supports the construction of swimming pools. The "Swimming for All" program, which runs until 2030, will be implemented starting in 2024. It includes teaching 12.5 million children to swim and building swimming pools at schools and kindergartens. Moscow plans to build 125 new outdoor pools by 2025, including the world's largest beach pool in the Mnevnikovskaya Poima, according to Moscow 24.

Challenges and Prospects

The key challenges facing the industry in 2025 are the balance between quality and price, as well as a shortage of qualified personnel, according to Runwill Pools. These challenges can be addressed through the implementation of robotics and automation, as well as through collaboration with educational institutions and the launch of specialist training programs that closely approximate real-world production conditions.

Basseynoff is quite optimistic about the situation. Given the growth of the private and commercial segments, the active implementation of innovative technologies, and government support, the Russian swimming pool market has promising prospects. It will continue to evolve toward energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, comfort, and customization.
